IWC - Ingenieur (Vintage) // History
No other watch from IWC has cemented the company’s reputation for technical expertise as strongly as the first Ingenieur, launched in 1955 with an IWC automatic movement housed in a soft-iron inner case for protection against magnetic fields. The giant leap from hand-wound to automatic movements had been made four years earlier with the then revolutionary IWC 85 calibre with central seconds, whose origins dated back to the 1940s.However, it was only with the Ingenieur that IWC catapulted itself into the vanguard of Swiss manufacturers competing to create the first bidirectional automatic movement. Its winding system – featuring a rocking bar and rollers in the automatic 85-calibre family – goes all the way back to Technical Director Albert Pellaton and set new standards in watchmaking.
Mister Freedom revisits Paris of the 1900s with this nice little video showcasing pieces from their current collection. Comedic fisticuffs and suspicious lurking, the Apaches may cut ya as soon as look at ya but there’ll do it dressed in their finest. As ever, MF have really done their homework when it comes to this collection, repros can be serious business but it’s nice to see a brand willing to keep things a bit light-hearted.

We Are All Smith (W.A.A.S) announces its newest endeavor, Unions of Smith.
Collaborating with Baz Brothers, Unions of Smith is launching the We Are All Smith + Baz Bros line of bags and accessories.
Established in 1970 and led by visionary brothers Rafi and Art Baz, these Smiths have pioneered the art of salvaging military uniforms, tents and hardware using them to construct bags, totes, belts and other products for today’s fashion minded men inspired by vintage military gear.
Made from vintage denim, quilted HBT herringbone from Belgium, salvaged military tents and soldier uniforms, wool blankets from the 1940’s and 1950’s, West German cammo from the 1980’s, vintage European carabiners and European leather straps dating back to the 1930’s, the first items released include totes, laptop bags, and iPad sling, belts and key chains.
A highlight of the collection is the iPad Gunslinger. A numbered and limited edition of 300, the sling is made of salvaged 1940’s Swedish tent bags, military webbing from the 1970’s, lined inside with 1950’s Korean war frieze, and the focal point is an authentic vintage U.S. Military gun holster.
