Illustrator John Woo’s playful He Wears It series embraces the forces of fashion, putting the Star Wars cast in contemporary brands. The illustration series pairs characters with Woo’s favorite brands, carefully selected to match the look and personality of the different characters. He says the hardest to design for was Jar Jar: “I had to totally change his image and still had to match his face and body.” If you are more of a Star Wars nerd than a fashion nerd, it’s a mini-education to look up each of the brands that Woo picked.

Contemporary Athletics Collection - Words from Cedric Hudson

Contemporary Athletics started over the summer of 2011 as I was preparing to start constructing my senior collection/thesis for this final year of my design education. I figured having my own brand is something that I would love to have one day so I took this opportunity to start building it. I am in the very early stages as the pieces I am constructing right now are essentially samples for what I hope can become an authentic, unique, and functional blend of sport inspired construction with more contemporary fabrications.
At the end of it all I want to have created a brand that I can be proud of and that supplies people with clothing that they know is great quality, functional, unique and they know they look and feel good in it.  Contemporary Athletics, where the functional design of sport meets everything else.

Maison Kitsuné – Spring Summer 2012 Collection

Founded in 2002 as the lifestyle brand of choice, Kitsuné have developed beyond their Parisian roots to become a definite player in the fashion world. The tale reads that founding partners, Gildas Loaec and Masaya Kuroki, met on the set of a Daft Punk video. They embarked on a trip to Japan where they decided to create a company fusing the elements of their greatest passions – fashion and music. With the help of London based design studio Åbäke, they set up their company and named it after the Japanese for fox, ‘kitsuné’.

Our Legacy S/S 2012

The label, set up by Cristopher Nying and Jockum Hallin in 2005, has grown steadily and constantly to become one of the most anticipated labels this season. Referencing everything from 1980′s Armani and 90′s Helmut Lang to Hardcore Punk, Wu Tang Clan and Art Installations; the brand’s aim is to create pieces to appease the demand of the basic wardrobe, a feat they achieve with ease.

Ben Sherman - Brighton to Tokyo - Spring / Summer 2012

A look at some of the upcoming styles from Ben Sherman’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection, “Brighton to Tokyo.” Easy to wear casuals, as you’d expect, in the form of chinos, light outerwear, colourful polos and plenty of checks. “Combining classic British design with the Japanese sensibility for style and innovation, we’ve produced a collection that fuses east and west to see wardrobe favourites reworked and restyled in original and unexpected fabrications.”

A.P.C Spring / Summer 2012 Collection - Endclothing

The Spring Summer 2012 collection features flashes of military influence in it’s styling. No other piece exemplifies this more than theMilitary Parka. Utilising a washed twill cotton with a muted camouflage print, this straight cut jacket is an update of the Lined Parka from AW11 as well as using a similar silhouette to the Vintage Parka, which features more refined details such as a conceal zip fastening and cotton lace drawstring hood with suede leather finished ends. There is also a military feel with A.P.C.’s accessories, especially the aptly named Military Bag, available in both Navy and Brown.”

Heritage Research - Spring / Summer 2012 Collection

Despite the focus on Vietnam, Heritage Research have still stuck to their principles of being a British brand, using British Millerain Cotton in the construction of the Red & Khaki North Woods Parka, a popular jacket that makes a welcome return as part of the Spring Summer 2012 collection. Notable for it’s contrast shoulder panel and hood, this lightweight jacket is Heritage Research at their functional best, with an array of hidden pockets with Riri fastening zips. The North Woods is also available in a Khaki Costard linen colourway with a Vietnam inspired printed patterned lining

All Black Everything.

Seen here is Laurent with a Stapleton VestBrixton hat, Obey Thermal, Vans Authentics, Porter Bag and Super Glasses. I asked Laurent to do an all black outfit and this is what he came out with. The WeSC Leather Gloves, Porter Bag, and leather patches on the vest sure give it that extra layer of black.”
