Levi’s Made & Crafted - History
Back in the days, it was common practice for Levi’s representatives to personally travel to stores that were not yet carrying their brand, bringing with them a suitcase filled with a selection of their fine products.
After personally taking the store owner through the offering, they would leave a sample of the key elements that make a pair of Levi’s jeans “positively superior”: the Cone denim, the Oilcloth Guarantee Ticket and of course a copper rivet to hold it all together.
This salesman sample was in use from around 1908 up until the early 1930’s and they thought it would be nice to revisit this particular bit of history and base Levi’s® Made & Crafted™ branding and hang tag on it.

Filson X Levi’s 2011 Collection
“American denim brand Levi’s has been experiencing a very happy resurgence of both relevance and popularity lately due to an appreciation for their old-school aesthetics abroad as well as a longing for heritage products in the USA. Latest from the jean shop comes a collaboration with another stateside brand born out of the gold rush of the late 1800s: Filson. From the unexpected use of mustard on a Western-styled shirt to deep-cut denim vests, an over-dyed black trucker jacket and waxed cotton hunting coat, the collection embodies a nontraditional take on standard outdoorsy fare. It’s nice to see Levi’s teaming up with a fellow workwear brand for once instead of emphasizing the high fashion route.”
Levi’s Autumn / Winter Monochrome Collection 2011
“The Levi’s® brand is launching a new capsule collection of modern monochrome jeans for young men.
Four modern fits, Skinny, Tapered, Regular and Straight are available in a dark color palette including finishes like Black Point, Slam Grey and Petrol Blue. The jeans feature simple monochrome iconography like tone-on-tone stitching and details including a black zipper, leather patch and metal buttons to complete the overall ultra sleek look. The product acts as a blank canvas on which you can dial up your personal attitude and individuality.”
Levi’s Vintage Clothing Double Breasted Parka
“Depending on who you listen to, either the ’90s back, the ’80s back (or never left) or the ’70s back. Judging by this parka, we’d definitely say ’70s back. Why, you ask? Because this coat is so Huggy Bear it hurts. In fact, I’m surprised Levi’s didn’t get Antonio Fargas to model in their lookbook. You’ve still got time to do it Levi’s, just don’t forget to pay us consulting fees.”
“Levi’s and Filson have teamed up to release the second installation of their Levi’s Workwear by Filson collaboration, a capsule collection featuring iconic silhouettes and celebrated fabrics and materials from both brands. Composed of five men’s pieces, the collection will debut in limited quantities on Monday, August 8. The pieces will be available in select Levi’s and Filson stores, and online at www.filson.com and www.levi.com.”
