British designer Nigel Cabourn just released some new jackets from its collection Spring / Summer 2012: Cameraman Jackets , Surface Jackets , Mallory Jackets , Aircraft Jackets , Tenzing Jackets , etc.. The label continues to be inspired by military aesthetics, including the uniforms of the Desert Rats, the British military troops stationed in North Africa during World War II.
Nigel Cabourn 2012 Spring / Summer Surface Jacket
Sticking to his penchant for military classics and workwear-driven designs, Nigel Cabourn has created this Surface Jacket as a part of his Spring/Summer 2012 collection. Inspired by the “Desert Rats” of the British Army, stationed in North Africa under the command of General Bernard Montgomery during World War II, the oilcloth jacket features vintage deadstock military hardware alongside an adjustable belted waist, fixed hood and numerous pockets throughout. Half-lined and finished off with a covered placket, the made-in-England Surface Jacket is now available in army green for £695 GBP (approximately $1736 USD).

Nigel Cabourn - The Desert Rats Collection Spring 2012
As you might expect the collection has strong military influences, featuring various officers’ jackets, vests, and combat smocks. Camouflage makes a return to the range, as well as some new ‘Desert Rat’ sand shoes. The collection is finished in a subtle palette of dusky khakis, sands and oranges, perfect for desert combat.
The ‘Desert Rats’ Spring 2012 collection will launch in store soon.
“When Nigel Cabourn found some vintage British Army combat boots from World War I he immediately wanted to replicate those boots, carefully made to exacting quality standards and he knew Red Wing Shoes was the only manufactory who could do such a thing.” - Red Wing Shoes

Red Wing Heritage x Nigel Cabourn “The Munson Boot”
With the concept of collaborative ventures in mind, industry renowned outdoor specialist Nigel Cabourn has partnered up with Red Wing Heritage to create The Munson Boot. Although both brands have a differing heritage based on their respective fields over the years, this partnership allows them to explore each others territory and combine them into a single unprecedented piece of work. Made out of Munson lasts, The Munson Boot was inspired by the true ruggedness of infantry boots and how they’ve been able to withstand constant wear and tear for decades. The use of Munson lasts have not been readily used in the fashion industry for many years, but this pair of boots was created to last for perhaps a lifetime worth of outdoor adventures. Featured with army green Harris tweed lining and deep green leather shoelaces and eyelets, The Munson Boot is available in two colors – Light Brown Hawthorne Muleskinner and Dark Chocolate Muleskinner.
Nigel Cabourn x Viberg 2012 Service Boot
British designer Nigel Cabourn joins Viberg for a Spring/Summer 2012 custom-made Service Boot. Built with the same craftsmanship and attention to detail as the Viberg traditional product line, the Service Boot pulls much of its inspiration from vintage work footwear while maintaining a level of street wearability via a distressed brown suede upper, stitch down construction and dark brown vintage laces. Exposed stitchwork along the upper tongue and a capped toe round out the Nigel Cabourn x Viberg 2012 Service Boot.
Nigel Cabourn Autumn / Winter 2011 Collection
“The latest delivery from our Newcastle neighbours Nigel Cabourn has caused a fair bit of excitement here in the End offices. There are some returning favourites from both the Authentic and Mainline collections including the likes of the US Clip Sweat and Short Puffa Jacket. There’s also loads more incredible outerwear from the collaboration with Eddie Bauer, including the hooded Skyliner and US Clip Geddes Jackets -two real stand out pieces – as well as some a number of 1940’s fairisle knits and an incredible new addition to the range.”
Nigel Cabourn x Eddie Bauer Canadian Vest
“The highly anticipated collaboration between Nigel Cabourn and American outdoor experts Eddie Bauer has finally arrived, and needless to say, it definitely lives up to the billing. This limited capsule collection sees Nigel reworking a number of Bauer archive pieces, using familiar fabrics and processes to add his own unique stamp to some of the finest outerwear to come out of North America.
The first part of the delivery features the Canadian Vest – a goose down quilted gilet that was originally designed by Eddie Bauer as winter piece for the military. In true Cabourn style, the body of the vest comes in either bespoke Harris tweed or naturally waxed cotton twill, while original features such as the square quilting and calf skin shoulder panels remain. This incredible jacket is made to withstand the worst North American weather, with some quintessentially British styling to firmly set it apart from the rest.” via Endclothing
